Introduction

I'm a UI/UX professional based in San Francisco

I'm a San Francisco-based UI/UX professional with almost 20 years of experience designing web-based applications. I'm currently a UX Manager at TIBCO where I lead the design of the JasperReports Server web-based BI appplication.

I consider myself a generalist, as I've worked across many aspects of UI and UX. This includes problem definition, user interviews, interaction design, interface design, visual design, icon creation, accessibility, CSS architecture, and building component libraries.

about

As an advertising student at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, I entertained visions of someday becoming a great copywriter. Surprisingly, I found myself far more interested in the design end of things. After a few years working in print and publication design, I decided that I was going to design websites for a living.

I started as a freelance web designer with a day job. It wasn't long before I was hired as full-time user interface designer working on custom-built web-based applications. After seven great years as a full-time interface designer, I moved across the country to sunny California, where I eventually landed in San Francisco.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, I believe that cheese is a significantly important food group. In a past life I was a marathoner, Ironman triathlete, and ultracyclist. These days I keep my activity more tame with hikes, short runs, and bikes rides of reasonalbe distance. I'm a coffee person, a frequent attendee of live music, and I love dogs.
